Fazenda São Nicolau contains a recognized 1,815-hectare RPPN, fully protected for research, environmental education, ecotourism and biodiversity preservation. This reserve is embedded in native forest that hosts an enormous diversity of species, including more than 500 tree species and about 2,000 fauna species – some new to science.
