History
Located in Cotriguaçu, Mato Grosso, Fazenda São Nicolau is ONF Brazil’s operating territory. It covers more than 10,000 hectares where forest, research, community and production move forward together.
Since 1999, more than 2.5 million trees of 50 native species have been planted in pasture areas, forming the Peugeot-ONF Carbon Sink Project – the first large-scale voluntary carbon certification project in Brazil.
In addition to capturing carbon, the farm includes an RPPN focused on biodiversity conservation, promotes environmental education, receives tourists and researchers, manages forest products such as timber and Brazil nuts, integrates farmers and local communities, and disseminates sustainable agriculture and livestock practices.

Our infrastructure was developed to support high-level research and practical demonstrations of sustainability. Each facility was planned with sustainability principles and integration with the natural environment in mind. With the capacity to host groups of researchers, students, and international delegations, we provide all the necessary conditions for fieldwork and the development of innovative projects.
